Protection is a basic need of everyday life but within the realm of a crisis and
emergency situation, the need for protection and the risk of violence is amplified.
Although there are many classifications that fall under the realm of protection Bahar
focuses on child protection, gender-based violence, psychosocial support and mine
risk education. Each of them serve a specific and crucial need within the context of
protection with some degree of natural overlap in the affected audience that they
reach. The role of each of these areas of protection are essential life-saving and lifesustaining
mechanisms to improve the overall quality of life for affected people in the
midst of the crisis.
